Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… tonight kicks off Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. They need no publicity from me, but here I am writing about it anyway. I have to say, I’ve seen the Seal commercial dozens of times and I still laugh. I’m not going to lie, I’m tuning in to see Michael Phelps race the shark tonight. While we feel an allegiance to Michael Phelps and our friends at Octagon OAS, that’s not really why. We’re tuning in because it’s mesmerizing.
The last time I even peeked at Shark Week was several years ago when the stories started to center around Chatham. This year it feels a bit revived and fresh and I’m actually looking forward to seeing some of the programming. My hope is that there is more education and less mania about how close sharks get to shore. The end of the week show with Michael Phelps learning all about sharks first hand gives me high hopes for some creative and fascinating entertainment this week.
P.S. My money is on Phelps.
